Colby Turns 3!

Wow...it is hard to believe our little guy is 3 years old already.  The time has gone by so fast.  Here are some things about Colby:

• Loves motorcycles (couldn't avoid that with Kurt as his dad)
• Loves to sing songs while playing around the house.  However, he tends to mix them up.  His favorite song he created goes like this...
• Oompa Loompa gobble dee goop...life isn't fair...don't go astray on the dinasaur train. He sings the song to the Oompa Loompa tune. (don't ask me where he heard it).  We are a bit concerned as to why he felt the need to throw in the "life isn't fair" part.  Then you have part of a primary song, finished off with one of his favorite shows "The Dinasaur Train".  What a creative song writer.
• Loves to ride his bike
• Loves to play with his little brother
• Makes the funniest faces and says the funniest things
• LOVES Veggies (no wonder he is so skinny)
• Loves swimming
• Loves jumping off of everything
• Has a big heart

For Colby's birthday we decided to do something simple.  We got together with a few of his friends and their families for pizza, cake and ice cream.  Later we went swimming.  He had such a great time playing with his buddies and eating sugar all night.

Colby got ahold of his cupcake before we had the chance to sing and light candles.  We decided to just stick the candles in his half eaten cupcake.  Looks pretty gross.

I forgot to take pictures of the dirt cupcakes we made and had to throw a motorcycle on a half eaten cupcake.  You can kind of see how they looked.

Family Trip To San Diego

After a very busy month for Kurt in school we decided we needed a family vacation. San Diego is just a 5 hour drive from where we live and was the perfect place to get away. This trip turned out much better than the last trip we took to San Diego!  The last time we went was shortly after Cameron was born.  It started with a terrible drive with both kids screaming bloody murder.  Cam had acid reflux at the time and wasn't so pleasant.  In an effort to save money, we went on priceline and stayed in a roach infested hole in the wall.  We didn't get much sleep and lets be honest...didn't relax much.
This time was the complete opposite.  Being much older, the boys were really able to get into everything.  The kids did great in the car (thanks to Dora and Diego), and we stayed in a much larger and better hotel.  Colby had such a great time he often asks if we can go back to Diego Sands (didn't quite get the name right...close enough).

 

We rented bikes one of the days and rode along the beach. The boys loved it!  Luckily Kurt was the one pulling the boys in the wagon, because apparently it has been a while since I have been on a bike.  We rented beach cruisers.  Not the same as a 21 speed.  I just about ran into a parked car because I forgot that the breaks were on the pedals and not the handle bars.  Oh man did Kurt have a good laugh.

 

 

One of the days we went to Sea World.  I am so glad we went.  It was well worth it.  Colby loves animals and apparently is really into whales.  We had no idea.  The shows are so interactive and fun.

Colby getting pretty excited about the 3D Sesame Street show.  I think he was a little freaked out by the 3D part of it.  He kept taking his glasses on and off trying to figure the whole thing out.

Utah Vacation

Well...it has been so long since I have really updated the blog, and we have done quite a bit since then.  So, I will just do a quick update. 
A few months ago we were able to visit our family in Utah for a couple weeks during one of Kurt's breaks.  We had a great time and enjoyed the cooler weather.

We went to Hogle Zoo with some of Kurt's family.  We had a blast.  Boy has that zoo changed!  We could see the animals so well.  I remember going as a kid and thinking all the animals looked dead.  Now they have pools of water right up against the glass where tigers and polar bears swim. 

 

 

One morning we took a hike up Mueller Park Canyon.  It was so beautiful!

 

On our drive home from Utah we stopped for a couple of hours in Monticello to visit Kurt's grandparents.  It was so fun to see them and the kids loved riding on the four wheeler.

 

Colby thought he was stong enough to push it.  

 

The ride back went well.  The kids did great considering they were trapped in their car seats for 12 hours.  Thank heavens for movies in the car and blue ring pops! 

Cameron Turn's 1! (4 months ago)

Ok...so Cameron turned 1 about 4 months ago and I am just now getting the time to post about it.  Better late than never right?  I can't believe my baby is getting so big!  He is such an adorable little boy and we love him so much.  Here are a few things about Cameron...

• He loves to cuddle (this has just been recently)
• He loves cars and motorcycles
• He loves Colby and follows him around all day
• He loves to eat and is willing to try new things
• He loves his binky
• He is a momma's boy through and through

Kurt had a big test on Cameron's birthday, so we didn't have much time to celebrate, but we did sqeeze a little fun into the day.  Early in the day we went to the splash pad to play and have cupcakes.  Cameron loved the cupcake...as you can see in the photos.  Later that night when Kurt came home from studying, we had more cake and pizza.  Cameron was a happy boy.  His two favorite things..cake and pizza.  We had a great time.  We are so happy to have Cameron as our son and love him so much.

Is it that time again?

Well, I think it came a little early this year, but the Arizona heat is definitely here! Today we reached 102.  The boys don't seem to mind at all.  It has always amazed me that even in the middle of the summer when it is 115 degrees, the kids just beg at the back door wanting to play outside.  They love swimming in our little blow-up pool in the backyard, and can't get enough of the sprinklers.

One hot day last week, Kurt came home from school and decided he was hot enough to dive into the kiddy pool with his clothes on.  I think he regretted it the minute he did it.  Colby didn't even see his cool move, and he ended up with a bad headache that night from bending his neck weird.  Looks like we are getting too old to be doing what we used to.  So sad.

 Colby decided it was too warm to come outside while I did the lawn, so he ate his raisins and watched from the back door.  He didn't last too long with all the excitement.  He slept there for over an hour.
